In these Terms, “I”, “me” and “my” refer to Simple Web Studio. “You”, “your” and “client” refer to the person or business purchasing or requesting the service.

1. Services

  • Amazon KDP book publishing support

  • Manuscript formatting and book interior preparation

  • Book cover design

  • Amazon KDP setup and publishing assistance

  • Business website design and development

  • Online shop design and setup

  • Google Business Profile and Google Maps setup

  • Search engine optimisation (SEO)

  • Website content and digital project support

  • Other related services agreed before work begins

The exact scope of each project will be confirmed before work starts.

2. Quotations and Project Scope

Prices shown on the website are starting prices unless clearly stated otherwise.

The final price may depend on the size, complexity and requirements of your project.

Before work begins, I will confirm what is included in the agreed service and the price.

Any additional work requested outside the original agreed scope may result in an additional charge. I will tell you about any additional cost before carrying out that work.

3. Payments

Unless agreed otherwise, projects are normally paid as follows:

  • 50% before work begins

  • 50% when the agreed work is completed and ready for publication, launch, transfer or handover

Work will normally begin once the first payment has been received.

The remaining balance must normally be paid before the final website, shop, publishing files or completed project are launched, transferred or handed over.

For smaller services, full payment may be required in advance. This will be made clear before purchase.

4. Third-Party Costs

The price charged by Simple Web Studio does not automatically include third-party costs unless specifically stated.

These may include:

  • Domain names

  • Website hosting

  • Website or e-commerce platform subscriptions

  • Paid plugins or applications

  • Premium fonts, images or licences

  • Amazon services or author-copy costs

  • Google or other advertising

  • Payment processing fees

  • Other third-party products or subscriptions required for your project

I will explain any known additional costs before you purchase them wherever reasonably possible.

Third-party services are normally purchased and owned by you directly.

5. Client Responsibilities

You are responsible for providing the information and materials reasonably required to complete your project.

This may include:

  • Text

  • Images

  • Logos

  • Product information

  • Business details

  • Completed manuscripts

  • Author information

  • Login invitations or authorised platform access

  • Feedback and approvals

You must ensure that information you provide is accurate.

Delays in providing materials, approvals, payment or feedback may delay completion of the project.

6. Materials and Copyright Provided by You

You must have the necessary rights or permission to use any materials you provide to me.

This includes manuscripts, photographs, illustrations, logos, trademarks, graphics, product images and other content.

By supplying materials, you confirm that you are authorised to use them for the project.

You remain responsible for claims arising from materials supplied by you where the issue was not caused by my work.

7. Amazon KDP Publishing

For Amazon KDP projects, you must provide a completed manuscript ready for publishing unless we have specifically agreed a different service.

My publishing service may include formatting, cover preparation, book setup, categories, keywords, description, ISBN guidance, KDP upload, Previewer checks, pricing and publication guidance depending on your chosen package.

Your Amazon KDP account remains in your name and under your control.

You are responsible for entering and confirming your own personal, banking, identity and tax information.

I may explain or guide you through the relevant KDP screens, but I do not provide tax, accounting, financial or legal advice.

8. Amazon Approval and Book Performance

Amazon is an independent third-party platform and controls its own publishing rules, review process and account decisions.

I cannot guarantee that Amazon will:

  • Approve or publish a particular book

  • Keep a book or account available indefinitely

  • Approve particular categories, keywords or content

  • Achieve a particular publication date

  • Give a book a particular search position

  • Generate a particular number of sales

  • Achieve bestseller status or any particular ranking

I will carry out the agreed publishing work with reasonable care and skill, but commercial results cannot be guaranteed.

9. Websites and Online Shops

Website and online shop projects will be created according to the agreed project scope.

The client is responsible for reviewing the website before final approval and informing me of any errors or required reasonable corrections.

Unless specifically included in the quotation, ongoing website maintenance, hosting, software subscriptions, product management and future updates are not included after completion.

You remain responsible for the operation of your business and for ensuring that information displayed on your website or shop remains accurate and legally appropriate.

10. Domains, Hosting and Platform Accounts

Where possible, your domain, hosting and platform accounts should be registered in your own name or business name.

I may help you choose a provider and guide you through setup.

You are responsible for renewal fees and for maintaining active subscriptions after the project has been completed.

I am not responsible for a website becoming unavailable because a client fails to renew a domain, hosting plan, subscription or other third-party service.

11. Online Shops

You are responsible for the products or services sold through your online shop, including:

  • Product descriptions

  • Prices

  • Stock

  • Delivery

  • Returns

  • Refunds

  • Taxes

  • Product safety

  • Consumer obligations

  • Any licences or permissions required for your business

My role is to build and configure the agreed online shop and does not make me the seller of your products or services.

12. Google Business Profile and Google Maps

I may help create, configure or optimise a Google Business Profile for Google Search and Google Maps.

Google controls profile verification, visibility and search results.

I therefore cannot guarantee:

  • Verification or approval of a profile

  • A particular Google Maps position

  • A particular search ranking

  • A particular number of calls, visits or enquiries

  • That Google will not request additional verification or make changes to its platform

Any final verification required from the business owner must be completed by you where Google requires it.

13. SEO

SEO work is intended to help search engines understand and discover your website.

Search engine results depend on many factors outside my control.

For this reason, I cannot guarantee:

  • First-page Google rankings

  • A particular keyword position

  • A specific amount of website traffic

  • A particular number of enquiries or sales

  • How quickly Google will index or rank a website

14. Revisions

Reasonable revisions within the original agreed scope are included where stated in your quotation or service description.

Requests that substantially change the original concept, structure or agreed work may be treated as additional work and quoted separately.

I will tell you before carrying out work that would result in an additional charge.

15. Project Timescales

Any completion date or estimated timescale will be discussed before or during the project.

Timescales may depend on you providing information, files, approvals and feedback promptly.

Third-party review processes, including Amazon KDP verification, Google verification, domain propagation and search-engine indexing, are outside my direct control.

If a significant delay occurs, I will communicate with you and explain the situation.

16. Client Approval

You will normally have an opportunity to review the work before final launch or publication.

Once you approve the final version, I may proceed with the agreed launch, publication or handover.

You should check names, spelling, contact information, prices, book details, product details and other important information carefully before approving the project.

If I make an error in work I have supplied, I will take reasonable steps to correct it.

17. Cancellation by You

You may contact me at hello@simplewebstudio.co.uk if you wish to cancel a project.

If no work has begun, any refund due will be considered in accordance with your statutory rights and the circumstances of the project.

If work has already started, you may be charged a reasonable amount for work already completed and for legitimate non-refundable costs incurred specifically for your project.

Any remaining amount that you are entitled to receive will be refunded.

Nothing in these Terms removes any cancellation or refund rights you have under applicable consumer law.

18. Consumer 14-Day Cancellation Rights

If you are purchasing primarily as an individual consumer rather than for business purposes and you enter into the contract online or at a distance, you may have a legal right to cancel the service contract within 14 days after the contract is made.

If you want me to begin providing the service during that 14-day period, I may ask you to expressly request that work begins immediately.

If you then cancel before the service has been completed, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount proportionate to the work already provided.

If the service is fully completed during the cancellation period following your express request to begin early, and you have acknowledged that completion will result in losing the cancellation right, your statutory cooling-off right may end once the service is fully performed.

These Terms do not restrict any statutory rights available to you.

19. Cancellation by Simple Web Studio

In unusual circumstances I may need to end a project, for example where:

  • The requested work is unlawful or inappropriate

  • Required information is repeatedly not provided

  • Payment remains overdue

  • Communication makes it impossible to complete the agreed work

  • Continuing the project would require me to breach the rules of Amazon, Google or another provider

Where I end a project without fault on your part, I will deal fairly with payments already made and refund any amount relating to work that has not been provided.

20. Refunds and Problems With the Service

If you believe there is a problem with the service provided, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible.

I will review the issue and, where appropriate, have the opportunity to correct or repeat the relevant part of the service.

Services supplied to consumers are provided with reasonable care and skill and nothing in these Terms removes your statutory rights.

Refunds will be assessed according to the work performed, the circumstances of the project and any rights you have under applicable law.

21. Intellectual Property and Completed Work

You retain ownership of original content and materials supplied by you.

Once the project has been paid for in full, you may use the final custom work created specifically for your project for its intended purpose, subject to any third-party licences or restrictions.

Third-party materials, software, fonts, templates, platforms and other licensed resources remain subject to their respective owners' terms and licences.

Drafts, rejected concepts and unused working materials do not automatically transfer to you unless agreed separately.

22. Portfolio Use

Unless you ask me not to, I may display publicly launched work such as a website, book cover or published project in the Simple Web Studio portfolio or social media as an example of my work.

I will not publish confidential manuscripts, private client information, passwords, banking information or unpublished sensitive materials.

If you do not want your completed project displayed in my portfolio, please tell me.

23. Confidentiality

I will treat unpublished manuscripts, business information and other confidential project materials with reasonable care.

Information may be shared with a third-party service only where necessary to complete the agreed project or where required by law.

Personal information is handled in accordance with the Simple Web Studio Privacy Policy.

24. Third-Party Platforms

Services such as Amazon, Google, Hostinger, Shopify, payment providers, domain registrars and other technology providers operate independently from Simple Web Studio.

Their own terms, policies, prices, functionality and availability may change.

I am not responsible for problems caused solely by the operation, outage, suspension, rule change or decision of a third-party platform where I have acted with reasonable care and skill and the issue was outside my control.

25. Liability

I am responsible for providing the agreed services with reasonable care and skill.

I am not responsible for losses caused solely by inaccurate information supplied by you, your failure to follow agreed instructions, or events genuinely outside my reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so, or removes any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

26. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of the service, please contact:

hello@simplewebstudio.co.uk

Please provide details of the issue so I can review it and try to resolve it fairly.

27. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to my services, business practices or applicable requirements.

The Terms that apply to a particular project will normally be those provided or available when the contract for that project was agreed, unless both parties agree otherwise or a legal change requires a different approach.

28. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of The United Kingdom

If you are acting as a consumer, nothing in this section removes any mandatory rights or protections available to you under applicable consumer law, including any right you may have to bring proceedings in a court available to you under applicable law.

If you are purchasing wholly for business purposes, disputes relating to these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts unless otherwise agreed.
